DIRECTIONS to Kayak Cape Town, Simon's Town
The best route from Cape Town is via the M3, M64, M6 route (Ou Kaapse Weg), NOT via Muizenberg and Fish Hoek on the coast road, which is the way your GPS will try send you.
Take the M3 motorway, also called The Blue Route, to its end and turn right (not left as per your SatNav). About 2km further on at the second traffic light turn left up the mountain on Ou Kaapse Weg. This 12km long mountain pass road has wonderful views through Silvermine and winds down to Sun Valley. Keep straight at the traffic lights and over another hill until you reach a set of traffic lights at a T-junction by the sea in Glencairn. Turn right and Simon's Town is 5kms away. It's a 60 to 70 minute drive from the centre of town.
If you have GPS use destination Wharf Street, (but make sure you don't go to Wharf St in Cape Town).
Your GPS will also try send you via Muizenberg - ignore it and use our directions above until you get to Glencairn, and then follow the GPS.
If you use Google Maps on your phone search for "Sea Kayak Simons Town"
(WE DO NOT CURRENTLY RECOMMEND THE TRAIN AS IT IS AN UNRELIABLE SERVICE)
Trains leave regularly from Cape Town Station stopping at most local stations on the way and the trip takes an hour and five minutes. At the last check with Metrorail, these were the trains you would need to catch to get here for the morning trip. It is a 10 minute walk to the launch site.
A return trip should cost less than R50.
Please first call 0800 65 64 63 (toll free from a land line) to confirm train times.

LOCAL DIRECTIONS ONCE IN SIMONS TOWN
The Shell petrol station on your right is your first landmark as you enter Simon's Town - it's about 500 metres past the Railway Station.
Shortly after passing the Shell petrol station you will see ahead of you on your left a blue and white building with a tall mast on it.
Turn left into Wharf Street at this building. There is a parking lot just there and there are usually free spaces
Park in the parking lot and X marks our spot where you will see our kayaks.
